"BILLY'S WORLD"

Posted by WebMaster on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, In : SNAFUS

You may have read about "Billy", a TYC alumni who was let out a few years ago...?  The Austin American Statesman did an 11-part series (http://www.statesman.com/news/content/news/other/billysworld.html) on this young man a couple years ago or so -- and again he's in the news -- this time for supposedly murdering a 65 year old blind and handicapped woman in Austin.  Gee.  Who'da thunk something like THAT could have ever happened!?

Watch the video.  See how little TYC affected him ... how the...

PREVIOUSLY POSTED -- WORTH RE-READING

Posted by WebMaster on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, In : SNAFUS

We've all heard a kid say "I go home regardless" -- and know that sometimes "regardless" is regardless of finishing out one's sentence in TDCJ, right?  But -I- get to go home ANY TIME I WANT and never have to step foot in a dorm again.  That's kind of a nice feeling, knowing there's an escape hatch should I need it.

And the nice things about home?  Ohhh, I've  been blessed because of what I've earned at TYC.  Things like:

  • Double-ply toilet tissue.
  • More video games, movies, high speed inte...

CALL IT WHAT IT IS!

Posted by WebMaster on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, In : Lofty Notions

Does ANY JCO 1-4 actually believe that local Admin and The Powers That Be in Austin DO NOT know what's going on at Giddings?  That they are IN THE DARK about the preventable violence, the weekly 12 hour shifts, the daily out of ratio staffing, lack of accountability of what the JCO 6's are and ARE NOT up to -- etc etc etc?   You do?  Well, think again, Sunshine -- 'cause it JUST AIN'T SO.  There's a term for that misconception, though.  Some might say...

Does that come across clear enough for ...

TIME'S RUNNING OUT --

Posted by WebMaster on Saturday, October 22, 2011, In : SNAFUS

Most likely
will be deactivating the old original TYC rant website within a week, as much as I would really rather keep up with it.  The times are not only changing, the time is running out on keeping up The Big Lie that Admin seems unable to admit to.  Be sure to bookmark this site in your Favorites, and TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND CO-WORKERS about it, eh?

My PATIENCE is runnng out, to  be honest, and that can't be a good thing for The Powers That Be.  But they've not paid much worthwhile attention...

Same Old Same Old... Just A Different Day

Posted by WebMaster on Wednesday, October 19, 2011,

Perry says Romney knew of illegals working on his yard for a year and did nothing about it... and look what's happened.  Many reports say Perry knew of the impending TYC scandal for years... and did nothing about it... and look what happened.  And here we are now with a Juvenile Corrections agency that's on the brink of meltdown -- and no one's admitted to knowing the truth or done anything about it... so what can we can EXPECT?

I suspect when the shit hits the fan, there's going to be a lot o...

REALLY ROUGH DRAFTS

Posted by WebMaster on Monday, October 17, 2011, In : RANTS

Posted below in mad-as-hell RED are some rough draft emails I've sent to various people, without any real response.  Maybe making these emails public now will have some effect?  I do hope my efforts have not been in vain.  The letter to "Nanci" was sent to KXAN TV Investigative Reports... and like the other ones, seemed to go no where.  Guess it's time to ratchet things up a few notches...

"OF NO CONCERN?"

Posted by WebMaster on Sunday, October 16, 2011, In : Lofty Notions

Pasted below is a letter I mailed to the Director Head Lady of TYC earlier this year... and got no email response -- apparently then, as now, no one in the Ivory Towers is really much interested in my ideas and opinions.  Well, OK.  What do -I- know?

April 5th, 2011

Thanks for taking the time to read this email. I've been intending to write to you personally for quite some time now. After recently coming home from working my shift at a TYC facility -- I finally feel obligated to correspo...

ALMOST DID IT...

Posted by WebMster on Sunday, October 16, 2011,

Pasted below are the prepared comments I "ALMOST" read at the Town Meeting earlier this year when The Powers That Be were deciding which State Schools to shut down.  Didn't do it then, but now I wish I had...

"I've worked at the Giddings State School as a Juvenile Corrections Officer for the past 6 years. Due to the possibility of this facility being selected for closure later this year, I've decided it's as good a time as any to express a few of my opinions, for better or worse. I'm not g...

Too Little, Too Late -- TOOOO BAD!

Posted by WebMaster on Saturday, October 15, 2011, In : SNAFUS

Bottom line -- Been working for the State here for almost 6 1/2 years and been treated very poorly (ahem!) on a number of occasions by co-workers, supervisors, and Admin.  Have gritted my teeth, grinned and beared it -- for the most part -- and just shut up and done my job.   But remember I wrote somewhere that the time for being "Mr. Nice Guy" was over?  I MEANT IT.  And last night, I finally filled out my first-ever grievance.  Here's why:

Everyone knew my co-worker would NOT be coming in la...

The Rotary Oscillator

Posted by WebMaster on Friday, October 14, 2011, In : Lofty Notions

The previous few entries are blog postings I've written over the past few months or so and have been reposted here to remain part of the permanent record of my experiences... you may have seen them before.  If not, please take a look!

Things have not gotten any better, particularly... we've been fed more bullshit and treated to more sleight-of-hand tactics to make things SEEM like situations are getting better -- but most of us can't  be fooled with all the window dressing.

Take the new pol...

RE-POSTING OF PREVIOUS BLOG ENTRIES

Posted by WebMaster on Friday, October 14, 2011, In : RANTS

The thinking report is what we're given as a "tool" to help the kids ... ahh... THINK, I guess.  I'm not really sure.  If done with sincerity and some degree of penitence, if necessary, a thinking report MAY well help bring someone to a clearer appreciation of their actions/feelings and how they may negatively affect both themselves and the community.  While the questions themselves are honest enough, we RARELY get anything more than whiney, mewing, little screechy cries for more this, more t...

MORE PREVIOUS BLOG ENTRIES

Posted by WebMaster on Friday, October 14, 2011, In : RANTS

Guess it depends on a lot of factors, if one is to be part of the "in" group here on campus (or not) .  What are these factors?  Hell, I sure don't know, but I DO have some general ideas.  I also know I'm not part of this group, never will be and wouldn't want to be... as odd as that may seem.

I think it helps to have been here many many years, like double digits numbers of years.  It probably helps if you're a JCO 5 or 6.  Might be real handy to have relatives/kin that work here, too, and to ...

Tell the kids: "Here are some areas we're going to start working with you over the next few weeks or until you've learned more pro-social and positive habits. If you refuse to comply and work on your thinking and behavior, we will put zero's on your Conextions paperwork. This may delay getting higher stages, chances are you may increase your stay, you'll have NO priviliges, and when sent to Security you'll be gone from the dorm for a matter of days, not hours. If you still continue to refuse ...

EXCERPT FROM THE PREVIOUS SITE --

Posted by WebMaster on Friday, October 14, 2011,

Think about it:  Would you rather keep all your frustrations, anger, and disgust inside you where it can affect your performance as a JCO... or would you rather just say the hell with it and write what's on your mind?

A bit of catharsis is something we ALL need.  JCO's  1-4 are encouraged  use this site as an opportunity to maybe purge ourselves and our working environment of the dangerous, unfair, illegal, etc etc things that we've all seen happen here and that are JUST PLAIN WRONG. ...

SPARE CHANGE?

Posted by JCO007 on Thursday, October 13, 2011, In : Lofty Notions

Some things never do change.  Some things do.  Sometimes thing just LOOK DIFFERENT... but the end result is the same.  We can't afford to keep on doing business way we have been and have any hope of making things better for ourselves or the kids.  This website is intended to be a sounding board for JCO's, teachers, and yes, even Administrators to use for sharing ideas on what might work to make our jobs safer and our efforts more effective.

While we can't really "spare the rod and spoil the c...

About Me

WebMaster I worked at Giddings State School for 6 1/2 years and ran out of patience in regard to policies and practices... so I quit and started my own business. The Agency needs to get things RIGHT and get back to doing what it takes to help the kids and keep staff as reasonably safe as possible. I'm here as an advocate for kids employees. My mission is to be a positive voice and help make TJJD a place where people can be safe, proud to work, and meet the needs of both youth and the people of this State..
